I'm long-winded. I'm warning you. But I hope you have some fun reading what's going on with us. I sure have fun writing these and catching up with y'all also.

New buys: piano and crib!

My mom came in town to spend some time with her mom, my Gramma Skolmoski, and was so kind to plan her visit around MLK jr. day, which I had off of work. So she spent Friday afternoon visiting my house, and I spent every other day of the weekend up in Sugarhouse. We did all of my favorite things:

  • Shopping (for maternity clothes)
  • Making food together (pizza burgers, pancakes, fruit salad, and cheese soup)
  • Doing dishes (well, I dried them...)
  • Talking
  • Crocheting/knitting (she did a blue pair of booties for Teddy and helped me figure out my pattern for my afghan)
  • Walking and exercising (we took the dogs; it was too cold for her)
  • etc.!
The last is my favorite--on my visits to Houston still, I go on her morning walk with her when she'll let me.  I love or candid talks. Too bad we didn't stay away from politics this time, but I hope she enjoyed seeing my house and being with me all the same.

She also bought my house a piano during her visit!  Thanks to Geoff for the friends/family discount at Piano Gallery!

We recently moved things around in our house to prepare for the piano addition and getting a new kitchen table, so here are the other pics.
We call this our "salon", or living room. We put this keyboard in storage now.

The kitchen table. It has 6 chairs and two leaves. I bought seat cushions for 4 of the chairs yesterday.

This is sometimes more clean. This is now our TV room--the TV sits on the desk next to a dresser on the other side of the room. The ottoman is new too. This is where you will stay if you come visit us now for the night. That couch is VERY comfortable. I would know because I sleep on it sometimes. I think the chaise chair would be moved in here too for you.

And finally, the new crib. Well, just like the kitchen table, it's not new. I washed the bumper pads (brown minky material) and now we'll just need to buy a mattress.
Buy or make a changing table/dresser combo to match...hmm....
The lovesac in the corner will have to go to make room for the dresser/changing table, but even so, the room looks A LOT smaller now with that huge crib.

And here is a pic of my current baby bump for those that haven't seen me yet:
This is 21 weeks along.

Update on pregnant me:
  • I think I might have felt Teddy kick once or twice.
  • I am getting strong headaches once and a while, especially when I first wake up.
  • No food aversions or cravings really. I really like caesar salad right not though I guess. And Der is not allowed to use the smoker right now.
  • Sometimes, like right now, my right rib cage hurts. I think it's just how I sit.
  • Sometimes I have bad back pain when I wake up and during the night. We just bought a mattress topper to help.
  • I am almost finished with my afghan for Teddy and I have made several bibs and receiving blankets and burpies.
  • Yesterday I cut out Teddy's "Linus" blanket--blue minky backed with satan, and it's ready to sew.
  • I also cut out a nursing cover that Kara gave me the pattern for, but it's also waiting on a new sewing needle I need to buy.
  •  I picked out my nursery material: http://www.joann.com/nursery-fabric--nurserynovelty13-2quiltprintsdb-oh-baby-patch/11112166.html#start=28
So teaching is also going alright and I am hoping to slowly get ahead in my planning. I will plan on having grades done the 2nd week of May so that I can use sick days as needed for the last few weeks of my pregnancy. (I'm due the first week of June.) The students drive me nuts sometimes and I have to make a conscious effort to like them and be happy sometimes--but I blame that on the baby and hormones. Overall, I do enjoy teaching and planning.
Derrick and I are looking forward to starting a garden and he will work on fixing up the backyard this spring.

That's it for now!
