I'm long-winded. I'm warning you. But I hope you have some fun reading what's going on with us. I sure have fun writing these and catching up with y'all also.

Safely home again

We got home safely from our month-long trip to Houston. I contracted pinkeye and have a cold, but we're okay. Slight hic-ups, but alright. Our car wouldn't start once, but it was right after we pulled into our hotel in Albuquerque, so that could have been worse.  It was fine. Der got pulled over but got left only with a warning.  The cop was strange.  He said Der was driving with this other red car and we were going 91. We don't know the red car and he had cruise control set at 80, so whatever. I think it's time for the beard to go and we need to learn how to switch drivers with the car still moving. I think I am far less intimidating and will probably break down in tears. Our insurance is going up as a result.  Ew. The house was fine and the bunnies were alive. Roger was ecstatic to see us again.
Der started meetings already; mine start Monday. I started Tennis already and things are looking great. I have some new keys to doors I didn't have before and it just makes my life so much easier! I am also learning to appreciate my assistant more and more. (Der wonders why I put the time into learning to appreciate Sean but not Der....)
Der found a community production of Aida and surprised me by taking me there last night! He could have gotten away with just not telling me, but he even went with me! It was so great of him!
Day 1 and 2 of the diet went well. There are no sweets in the house and tons of veggies. I even went to a specialty store to buy millet and buckwheat and spelt. Day 1 was pizza on focaccia bread.  Day 2 was teriyaki chicken with wild rice and yellow squash and broccoli. That one is listed at 400 calories. You broil the chicken and veggies so it cooks super fast. Let me know if anyone wants the recipes. There are veggies in the rice and I threw buckwheat in there also. I was actually good for being so healthy. Half your plate is veggies really, so the First Lady would be proud.
I found flax seeds and chia seeds to put in our smoothies! And baby kale. We can make green smoothies everyday now that are super healthy.
And today I finally get to eat my cafe rio. Oh I have been craving it so bad! I am going to make it from scratch starting from the pork.
That's our news!
