NEW BLOG

First blog post.  Wow.  I want you to understand that this is a status symbol for me.  I haven't started a blog before because first of all, what would I write about?  I was told in a class at BYU (I think) that I should be very careful about what I say about teaching and about students I teach.  So my whole life last year was crazy as a first-year teacher.  I had little time and lots of preparation and stress.  Don't get me wrong, I had some great times and great stories.  [I had a student who in an essay, criticized teachers for not working hard enough and not assigning meaningful assignments.  Try not to take that personally.]  But most blogs I see are about awesome things you do with your life or about the crazy things your kids do.  I don't really have either going on.  
But try as I might, I want to have an interesting life and I want a record of it.  Carpe Diem, right?  I have all summer to do whatever I want without having to work.  I must take advantage of this.  And I understand that I don't have to post everyday.
So in starting a blog, I feel like I do have a life worth writing about.  Status symbol accomplished and I don't even have a kid of my own to write about yet.  Awesome.
